Unstable Wind Sounds & Branch Motion
The wind sounds of autumn differ because the trees are half-bare. We recorded everything from deep gusts in open grasslands to the subtle stress of branches in a thinning forest. You get the motion of the air without the constant “white noise” of summer leaves.
Specific Seasonal Wildlife
We captured the wildlife activity that defines the European autumn. Woodpeckers knocking through the forest, ravens calling across wind beds, migrating cranes passing overhead in loose, shifting formations. Alongside the birds, you also hear the deeper seasonal signals, the rutting calls of red deer carrying through the woods and, in quieter moments, the distant howls of wolves. We captured the bird activity that defines the European autumn. This includes the echoing knocks of woodpeckers, the calls of ravens in wind beds, and the specific clusters of migrating cranes. It captures the distinct, often sparser wildlife activity of this point in the year.

Discrete Stereo Capture
We treated the stereo edition as a primary format. These are dedicated captures that maintain the width and detail of the location. They work perfectly for standard TV drama, documentaries, or game audio.
What We Recorded
We placed our rigs in leaf beds, woodland edges, and across open terrain. We focused on the transition. We recorded the sound of wood stress, leaf rustle, and the specific way wind interacts with thinning vegetation. It’s the sound of a world losing its density and opening up.
What’s so special about this library?
EUROPEAN AUTUMN fills the gap of seasons not always readily available in sound FX libraries. It provides the specific texture of the world as it prepares for winter. 3D Surround adds a height layer as a third dimension compared to regular surround. The sound not only reaches the listener’s ear from the side, but also from above. Our 3D Surround libraries are recorded with the highly-acclaimed SCHOEPS ORTF-3D setup, a cuboid 8ch level/time difference ambience setup. The main benefit is an additional height layer compared to regular surround recording setups. It consists of 8 supercardioid microphones.
