BOOM Library sound designer David Philipp, currently working at game developer CREATIVE ASSEMBLY Ltd. in UK, has some fantastic news to share. He and his sound design team won the MASA UK award for BEST SOUND DESIGN: TRAILERS + PROMOS with the TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER release trailer. David gave us some insight into their work and how they made use of certain BOOM sound effects throughout the trailer.
The winning team (FLTR): CREATIVE ASSEMBLY’s David Philipp (also a BOOM Library Sound Designer), Byron Bullock, Matt McCamley, Rosalie Wilson
“We spent a very long time working on our Total War – Warhammer release trailer, as the visual material gradually progressed our soundscapes grew with them. Throughout the process we recorded a large variety of sounds ourselves but it was always good to know that there would be our complete collection of BOOM libraries available to fall back on. We loved using the CREATURES CKs to spice up our own vocal recordings, I personally created some layers of the big impacts using pitched down versions of the BLACK POWDER and HISTORICAL FIREARMS libraries. Generally speaking, whenever we are missing certain sound effects we know that they will be available in one of the many construction kits. They are absolutely irreplaceable.”

Thanks Dave! Awesome trailer, amazing sound design. Congrats to you and the whole team.
It’s always a pleasure to hear that BOOM Libraries can be a substantial contribution for our customers (or – as in this case – our own crew members) and their individual projects.
