Our cooperation with SilencerCo is lots of fun. Check out this little photo documentary. In case you couldn’t imagine what the recordings for this new library looked like, here’s a little something that might lighten the dark. Our lead chipmunks – uhm,…sound designers(!) Michael and Axel crossed the big ocean and went all the way to Utah to meet our friends from SilencerCo to commonly create the terrific content for our new library.
SILENCERS – THE MAKING OF
Before (and behind) them lay the vast scenery of the Utah steppe. The sun was shining, quads were fueled, cap and glasses looking cool – Michael and Axel were all ready, set, go!
The day before they met up with the whole team, they took some time to get in touch with the countryside and courageously made their way through the wild and dusty trails.
As they traced the dry curves, Michael and Axel crossed quite striking places – unmistakable fingermarks of the rather dry climate conditions in Utah.
Nightfall came and thus the temperatures dropped, turning the desert into a real freezer.
Luckily, our sound designers had returned to their warm hotel by then and met up with James Nixon, Jeffrey Linsenbigler and Kristofor Mellroth (latter taking the photo) for dinner to talk over their plans for the upcoming recording sessions.
Early next morning, the team hit the road towards the recording site, with Axel and Michael in the back of the car, soaking up the vastness and space of the Utah backland.
Fortunately, some friendly Utah desert cats kept pointing them in the right direction so they reached their destination safely…
Day 1 of the recordings: installation of the equipment. Bringing everything into the right position – the very essence of our later outstanding BOOM library products.
Getting deeper into important details: arranging the microphones and the cable central.
Here’s a look at the protagonists: various rifles with their matching silencer parts.
More assault rifles.
And more pistols.
Sweet SilencerCo accessories.
Well, to make a long story short: they brought quite an arsenal of impressive weapons and matching silencers with them, classified into four categories: assault rifles, rifles, pistols and shotguns.
Day 2 of the recordings: rifles weren’t the only weapons we had to deal with – nature had unleashed its full force on us. Heavy snow and icy winds made the whole process a lot more adventurous, but not less fun!
Lots of preparing, fixing, adjusting and helping took place, to receive best possible results.
Harsh conditions bear strong fighters. Here we go!
We’ve also prepared some specials: you’re looking at the long distance bullet fly-by sound recording setup.
Outtakes: the crew inbetween the shooting. One big happy sound family.
The happy end: it’s not just a pretty sundown, but the prospect of this soon-to-be-released SILENCER library, that will grant you acces to a huge range of silenced guns. Thanks for partaking in our little recording adventure and stay tuned – don’t miss the release!
