Manager, Software Engineering, Audio, R&D
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Set direction, investigate and develop new technology areas, i.e. object oriented audio, 3D audio, spatial sound, applications in VR/AR and similar disciplines
- Manage a cross-functional team comprised of algorithm, embedded software and audio test engineers
- Support low-level firmware optimization to algorithm development to integration
- Lead technical discussions from concept and definition to implementation and optimization for audio and signal processing
- Project manage early phases of research and manage milestones and deliverables
- Communicate effectively with internal (US, UK and Japan) and external development partners
- Reinforcing a responsible design methodology along with improving the group’s design flow, while also mentoring engineers
- Some international travel will be required
- Other tasks assigned as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in related field
- Hands-on experience in more than one of the following areas:
- Programming in C/C++
- Audio DSP (signal processing) theory and practical methodologies
- Multi-channel audio rendering / optimizations
- Audio system development for embedded platforms
- Audio applications / game development
- Professional audio tool development
- People management
- Conflict resolution of technical deliverables
- Current or prior programming in C, C++, DSP, MATLAB and/or assembly
- Worked within a cross functional team (HW/FW/SW) including early prototyping, integration and bring-up efforts.
Preferred
- Masters of Science in related field
- Prior development of device firmware and drivers
- Spatial audio technologies from both a practical and theoretical viewpoint
- Open-source software including embedded Linux
- Hardware CODECS, DSP and Processing platforms
