Senior Sound Designer
As Senior Sound Designer you will use your creative and technical skills to ensure the vision of the Audio Director and the Creative Director is successfully implemented in the game.
You will help to craft the soundtrack of a high quality interactive experience that result fun, engaging and immersive.
You will be part of a highly diverse, multidisciplinary team where communication is key and you will have an active role in the task of shipping an outstanding AAA game.
Type of Position:Â Permanent, full-time.
Responsibilities:
- Manage music editing and integration in the game following the Audio Director guidelines.
- Analyze existing interactive music systems in the game and improve them if necessary with the support of the Audio programmers and Technical Directors
- Create, implement, debug and manage sounds effects in the game to support gameplay features, user interface, menus, etc.
- Supervise the deliveries form external providers such as Music Composer, Foley studios, external recording facilities and verify that they meet the standards and purpose they were planned for.
- Know the limits and advantages of the tools and tech in order to maximize the impact of audio through different platforms within their technical constraints;
- Be aware of all aspects of the game (game design, animation, environment, 3D objects, level design, AI, scenario, etc.) to understand sound needs and have an broad idea of the game;
- Communicate the sound design of the features you’re developing to the other working units involved.
- Validate/supervise the music recording sessions whenever necessary;
- Determine features/missions sound needs and ensure that the necessary/relevant resources are produced on schedule.
- Set out audio test plans with the QA team to test and debug audio components.
- Be able to estimate the time required for specific tasks, set the velocity and plan in advance to meet the milestones successfully.
- Have the technical and artistic knowledge to manage recording sessions for sound effects, ambiences, dialog, foley, etc.
- Play an active role in debugging and ensure that the final product meets quality standards;
- Carry out all other related tasks.
Training:
- College diploma, bachelor’s degree or considerable hands-on experience in music production, audio production for linear or interactive media or equivalent.
Experience:
- Extensive knowledge on interactive music systems and integration in middleware
- 8+ years of experience in sound effects creation, editing and mixing.
- A minimum 6 years’ experience in audio for game development
- At least 1 title shipped as part of the core team
- Solid skills in DAW like Reaper, Protools or Cubase
- Knowledge of processing of audio signals (EQ, Compression, time base processing, noise reduction, etc.) in the digital and analog domain
- Proficiency in operation of recording equipment (microphones, recorders, mixers)
- Knowledge of game engines and audio production pipeline.
- 2+ years of experience editing music
Other Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of musical structures and styles (musician or composer not mandatory but definitely an asset).
- Open-mindedness, adaptability, flexibility, ability to receive feedback.
- Ability to prioritize and manage emergencies.
- Ability to learn new tools and workflows quickly
- Strong communication skills, pleased to work as part of a larger team.
- Work-related passion and curiosity.
- Sense of aesthetics, understanding of video games language as a media.
- Ability to clearly explain complex ideas.
- Organization skills, rigorous, autonomous, ability to plan, resilient to stress and able to work with tight deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of SFX libraries operation.
