Today we have the third part of our SFX ADVENT CALENDAR RAFFLE. We present to you some of our sound designers’ favorite plugins and why they love working with them. And that’s not the highlight yet: we’ll be raffling some grand plugin licenses and you could be the lucky winner!

Today we have another great plugin in our raffle. One of our sound designer Michael Schwendler’s most loyal tools. The VOXENGO ELEPHANT mastering limiter. Read on to learn what Michael likes so much about it and how he uses it in his daily workflow:

„The Voxengo Elephant was one the first plugins I purchased a loooong time ago and I’m still using it. It has recently been updated and now features a variety of 10 limiter modes to choose from, giving a good starting point to dive further into the guts of the Elephant. If you’re still not 100% happy with the presets the Elephant allows you to tweak the settings in the so called “mode editor” giving you access to another 10 paramters to fine tune the sound.
A DC-Filter can remove unwanted low end or DC Offset before hitting the limiter and a dither stage takes care if bit depth transitions during export come into play. Up to 8x times oversampling make sure you export your audio with the highest possible quality. To let you know how hard you squish your audio Elephant offers a bunch of metering tools, letting you choose between 9 different meters including the K-System from Bob Katz. The Elephant is my only third party limiter that supports up to 5.1 channels which makes it indispensable when doing surround mixes. To me the Elephant is definitely a heavy weight among the limiters. What’s not to like?”
